“US Kids!” — Kids do Yoga too!

Children of all ages love to do yoga! We make it like play time for the little ones, moving them through the postures and movements in a creative and fun way, telling stories to stir their imaginations about the meaning and benefits of yoga. The earlier we start teaching our children to meditate and stretch their bodies, the healthier and more centered they will be when they get older.

The practice of yoga and meditation works wonders on hyper-active children and really helps children dealing with anger or depression, as well as those prone to obesity and inactivity. Yoga helps create balanced children who can more joyously handle the little challenges they face day after day giving them positive strategies that will last them a lifetime.

Children can begin taking yoga classes as early as 4 years, but by age 7 they are able to understand the practical application of the teachings and can even begin to develop their own yoga practice. They love it!

We like to tell the little ones...

“You can do Yoga too! Just like those big guys do! Do you want to see? Okay, we’ll show you!”

“Yoga makes you feel good. You can do yoga whenever you feel like it. You can even do it everyday, like first thing in the morning when you wake up, or before you go to bed at night."

“Did you know that you have a teacher inside of you? Well, you do! And how do you find your inner teacher? You tune in to yourself from the inside and listen very softly to what you hear in your heart."

“You can tune in by making beautiful sounds with your voice or by breathing very slowly in and out through your nose. It is a lot of fun and it feels great!"

“The trick is, you have to close your eyes and look inside your own heart. Can you close your eyes so softly you can feel your heart beat? I bet you can! Come on, let’s try it..."

“Sit on the floor, cross your legs, bring your hands together in front of your chest and very gently close your eyes and make your breath very long and soft. That’s it….. you are so beautiful!”
