Meditation Your Own Greatness Affirmed Inc.
(Y.O.G.A. Inc.)

Sharing and caring for our youth is a very rewarding experience for all of us. We appreciate the opportunity to give something meaningful to these youngsters and support them as the realization of their own greatness is affirmed within themselves. We welcome your involvement and salute your compassion and generosity.

Y.O.G.A. Inc. is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to establishing Yoga based programs in underserved communities around the world. Maintaining the highest integrity of the ancient and traditional styles of yoga, Y.O.G.A. Inc. embraces innovative and creative ways to keep yoga fun for the youth and doable for those who may be uniquely challenged. Yoga for Youth is a program that while serving all youth, is focused primarily on “at risk” and incarcerated youth. The needs of this population is staggering and the response often surprising as the youth clamor for more knowledge and understanding about the practical ways Yoga and Meditation can help them deal with life in a more successful and joyous way.

Mission Statement:
Our mission is to provide children and teenagers a solid physical, mental and emotional foundation through the practice of Yoga. We are committed to introducing the elevating experience of their own personal greatness by sharing age-old techniques to foster compassion, forgiveness, courage, and respect fro themselves and others.

Our Commitment:
Our commitment is to use the ancient, self-affirming science of Yoga to assist our youth in effectively meeting the challenges they face during this critical transition time in their lives. Through Yoga, they gain a greater sense of respect for themselves, others and their community. They develop a sense of empowerment and responsibility by transforming anger into determination and depression into an uplifting exploration of Self.

With a small seed-grant from the California Endowment Foundation in December 1999, a team of dedicated, certified teachers launched Yoga for Youth classes and workshops in detention facilities in Los Angeles and New York. Since then, we have modestly expanded our services to include Canada, Chicago and Washington D.C.

We welcome your participation and encourage you to “get involved” with our Yoga for Youth activities. It is going to take more than one village to raise these children!
